If we go back to Genesis, chapter three to that familiar scene in the garden, we will find in verse one that the serpent was more subtle then any beast the Lord God had made. After conducting a study on the word subtle in this particular text, I found that it means crafty in a negative sense, deceitful, or devious. The devil was slick with Eve, and is still slick in his attempts to lead man astray today.

In verse five, the serpent says, "For God knows that in the day you eat of it that your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil." What the serpent was saying to her was this: You can do your own thing! You can follow your own will! You do not have to listen to anyone! Do what you want!! Do what brings you pleasure, or money, or fame. He was saying "Do what thou wilst."

Let’s now turn to the book of Ezekiel, chapter 28.

Now in describing the characteristics of this force Ezekiel says in verse 12:

"You were the seal of perfection, Full of wisdom and perfect in beauty."

No man is ever described in these terms, but rather the opposite!

See Rom 3:23, which reads, "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."

The writer goes on in verse 13 : "You were in Eden, the garden of God; Every precious stone was your covering: . . ."

Some have speculated that the author was speaking of Adam here, but the Bible nowhere speaks of Adam’s being dressed in jewels or perfect in any way.

Ezekiel continues, "the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou was created." (King James Version)

Dr. J. Dwight Pentecost writes the following in reference to that passage: "Musical instruments were originally designed to be means of praising and worshiping God. It was not necessary for Lucifer to learn to play a musical instrument to praise God. If you please, he had a built-in pipe organ, or, he was an organ . . . Lucifer didn’t have to look for someone to play the organ so that he could sing the doxology -- He was a doxology."

Let me repeat, verse 13 reads that the musical instruments were "in thee." Not around thee, or near thee, or for thee, but, IN THEE. Lucifer was a living, moving organ or instrument. When he waved his arms, or walked or jumped his very being would literally breathe out or exude praises to God.

Ezekiel 28:14 continues, "Thou art the anointed cherub that covereth . . ." Theologically, the anointing of God is creative in nature. Remember that Jesus is the Messiah. The word Messiah is the Old Testament equivalent for Christ. Both Messiah and Christ means "Anointed One." Jesus is also the Creator. Remember, John 1:3 tells us, "All things were made by him; and without him was not anything made that was made". So Jesus, the Christ (Anointed One), is the Creator. Jesus was also the most creative person to ever walk the earth. So the anointing has a creative element to it. Ezekiel explains that Lucifer was "the" anointed cherub. No other angel had that distinction. Lucifer had a creative anointing to emanate beautiful music.

And let me tell you when God gives a gift or a calling to someone He does not take it back. Lucifer was booted out of Heaven and cast to the earth, but he still has the ability to create music. In fact if you read Isaiah 14:11 and Rev 18:22 you will find out that God prophesied that there will be a day that he no longer hears the devil's worldly music. He will say "No More" to the devil.
